Description
Bengal gram flour generally called as “Besan” is most popularly used flour in India, known for it’s nutty taste and high protein content for vegetarians.
Method: Chickpeas are sun dried, then soaked for 2 hours. Again soaked chickpeas are sun dried and then ground in a stone chakki
Directions for use: Add some sliced onions, tomatoes, green chilies, salt and turmeric to the flour with some water to make healthy chillas/ indian crepes. Use it to thicken curries or even fry pakoras.
Fun Fact: Besan is so versatile that every part of India used it in some form or the other.
